Communicating with ERDT & Monthly Check-In
Complete SEVIS Step 1 within 24 hours of arrival
Within 24 hours of arrival, visit www.erdtworkandtravel.org click on "SEVIS Step 1," read the text, then click the button at the bottom and answer the questions.
Complete SEVIS Step 2 within 1 week of arrival
Within 1 week of arrival, return to www.erdtworkandtravel.org, click on "SEVIS Step 2," read the text, then click the button at the bottom and answer the questions.
Monthly Check-In: Respond to all emails from ERDT within 1 week
At least once a month during your Summer Work/Travel program, you will receive an email from ERDT with instructions for how to complete the monthly check-in. You must follow these instructions within one week of receiving the email. It is a rule of the U.S. Goverment that, if ERDT does not receive regular communication from you, ERDT must terminate your program.
Inform ERDT within 1 week if you change housing
You must inform ERDT within 1 week if you change your housing address. It is a rule of the U.S. Goverment that, if ERDT learns that you have been in different housing without informing us, ERDT must terminate your program.
Get permission from ERDT before beginning working or training at a new or 2nd job
If you wish to change jobs or add a 2nd job, you must follow the instructions here before you begin working or training. It is a rule of the U.S. Goverment that, if ERDT learns that are working or training at a new job without permission, ERDT must terminate your program.
In an Emergency
In the event of an emergency, participants may call ERDT at 424-259-1192. After hours, this number directs to a mobile phone carried at all times by ERDT Work & Travel Program staff. If you don't reach someone right away, leave a message with your name and phone number, and your call will be returned quickly.
If participants feel they are not getting the help they need from ERDT, they may contact the U.S. Department of State.

What happens if I don't follow the communication rules?
The U.S. Department of State requires ERDT to terminate the program of students who don't follow the communication rules.
What if I don't have internet access?
When ERDT approved your job and housing, we checked to see if internet was available at your job, in your housing, or at a nearby library, community center or internet cafe. If you do not have any way to access internet, contact ERDT immediately so that we can help.
How long do I have to report a new job to ERDT?
NEVER start working or training at a new job without permission from ERDT. Follow these steps first.
